The BASE – a fully automated production line for integrated manufacturing of profiles and trims

Welcome to The BASE – a fully automated production line for integrated manufacturing of profiles and trims. The BASE (Bending And Slitting Engine) is the ultimate all-in-one solution for profile manufacturers with large production flows. By assembling the best standard machines on the market into a whole and combining them with the revolutionary control system nuIT, production efficiency is raised in a way never seen before.

This is how it works

The BASE can be equipped with up to eight decoilers, each with a capacity of 2-7 tons. The decoilers are designed and configured to ensure the smoothest decoiling possible for the cut-to-length line Forstner nuSLIT, which slits and cuts the sheet into the desired formats.

The cutting mechanism is programmable, allowing cutting-optimized jobs to be sent directly from the nuIT software to the nuSLIT, for maximum material utilization and minimized waste. The cut parts are then fed to the double folder Thalmann TD, which automatically bends the now size-adjusted blanks into the desired profiles.

BASE can be delivered in 6 or 8 meters in length for up to 1.0 mm of steel. BASE is operated by a single operator, encompassing everything from coil change to packaging of finished profiles.

Advantages of a fully automated production line

  • Coil change during ongoing production minimizes downtime and optimizes production flow.
  • Feeding of two details increases throughput and streamlines production speed.
  • Step cut and scrap handling function keep the work area clean and organized through efficient waste removal.
  • Status feedback to the software nuIT. Smart integration and real-time monitoring of the production process, enabling immediate response to any deviations or need for adjustments.
  • Semi-automatic mode. Possible to tailor production to specific needs without losing the benefits of automation.
  • Label printer optimizes traceability and quality control in production.

FAQ

The BASE is a standardized, fully automated production line for sheet metal processing and integrated manufacturing of profiles and trims. The solution connects decoiling, slitting, cutting, bending, and control into an automated flow from coil to finished profile. In automation for sheet metal processing, The BASE is a complete all-in-one solution for profile manufacturers that want to increase capacity, reduce manual handling, and create more efficient and repeatable production.

The BASE creates a connected production flow from coil to finished profile. The line can be equipped with up to eight decoilers, each with a capacity of 2–7 tons, feeding coil material to the Forstner nuSLIT cut-to-length line. The material is slit and cut into the desired formats, and the cut blanks are then fed to the Thalmann TD Double Folder, which automatically bends the size-adjusted blanks into finished profiles. Through the nuIT software, cutting-optimized jobs can be sent directly to the nuSLIT, improving material utilization and minimizing waste.

The BASE combines several key components in a fully automated production line for sheet metal processing. The solution can include decoilers for coil handling, Forstner coil processing with nuSLIT for slitting and cutting, a CIDAN handling system, the Thalmann TD Double Folder for bending, and control and job management through nuIT. Functions such as step cut, scrap handling, status feedback to nuIT, semi-automatic mode, and a label printer help improve traceability, quality control, and production flow.

The BASE can be delivered with a bending length of 6 or 8 meters (approximately 19.7 or 26.2 ft) and is designed for material up to 0.039 in steel (approximately 20 ga). The line can handle material widths from 4 in to 39.4 in, including automatic flipping of the sheet. The entire flow, from coil change to packaging of finished profiles, can be handled by a single operator. This makes The BASE an efficient solution for companies that want to increase capacity and automate larger parts of their sheet metal processing.

The BASE is best suited for profile manufacturers and companies in sheet metal processing that want to take a clear step toward full automation. It is especially relevant for businesses with large production flows, recurring profiles, and a need for high capacity, repeatability, and efficient material flow. For companies that want to reduce manual handling, optimize material utilization and create future-ready production from coil to finished profile, The BASE is a strong solution in automation for sheet metal processing.
